Elizabeth Freeman

Elizabeth Williams Freeman, 88, of Chattanooga, passed away recently at St. Barnabas Nursing Home. She was the widow of Robert L. Freeman. She was born in Chattanooga on March 20, 1925 to parents, John and Jessie Williams. Elizabeth graduated from Red Bank High School and attended the University of Chattanooga. She worked with Dr. Grote at the Chattanooga Medicine Company prior to the birth of her children. Elizabeth was a devoted wife and mother. She was an excellent flower gardener, especially of roses. She was a true companion to her mother for many years. She was a talented decorator and exceptional hostess and homemaker. She was a member of Red Bank Baptist and later, Apison Baptist Church. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Robert L. Freeman; parents, John and Jessie Williams, of Chattanooga; and brothers, Edwin Williams, of Apison, and Charles Williams, of Maggie Valley, N.C. Survivors include her three sons, Robert A. Freeman (Sandy), of Hixson, Roger Steven Freeman, of West Nyack, N.Y., and Tyler Freeman (Marilyn), of Whitwell; sister, Frances Nell Jones, of Edmond, Okla. She was the grandmother of six, Bobby, Jay, Mindy, Jennifer, Matthew and Andrew. She had four great-grandchildren, Kara, Mirra, Kamryn and Brice. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of St. Barnabas (especially Sadef Simmons LPN) and Hospice of Chattanooga for their loving care of Elizabeth and to the members of Apison Baptist Church for their faithfulness to her during her long illness.
