William Usher

William H. Usher, 81, passed Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014. He attended Howard High School and is a veteran of the US Army. He worked over 30 years at G.A. F. Chemical Company. He retired from T.V.A., Sequoyah. He was preceded in death by his wives, Betty J. Usher and Norma J. Usher; son, Michael Wayne Usher, Sr.; parents, Roger and Ada Bell Usher; brother, Willie Usher. Survivors include son, William H. Usher, Jr.; daughters, Lillian (Edward) Jones, Karen (Donnie) Phillips, Sr., Bernice Usher, Theresa (Roscoe) Tucker, all of Chattanooga; Tonie (Reginald) White, Annie R. White, Atlanta; brother, Frank O. Usher, Atlanta, GA; sister-in-law, Sue Connally; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-great-grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Services will be held at Noon on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014 in the chapel with Rev. J. W. Strickland officiating. Interment National Cemetery. The body will lie in state after Noon today and the family will receive friends from 67 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 622-9995.
