Alice Travis

Alice Ann Travis, 66, passed away on Friday night, Jan. 24, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Alice was born in Dayton, Tenn., on Dec. 27, 1947 a daughter of the late Claude H. and Lennie A. Patton Travis. She was of the Methodist faith and a lifelong member of the New Bethel United Methodist Church. Alice worked for many years and retired from the Kyser-Roth hosiery company and then continued to be a sitter and caregiver to many. Alice will be most remembered for being very dedicated to her family. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by one sister Martha Richardson and one brother Fenton Travis. Alice leaves behind to cherish her memory one sister Betty Bradford and her husband Bill; two brothers Claude W. "Rabbit" Travis and his wife Opal and Tom Travis; one sister-in-law Jessie Travis; a special niece Ashley Gentry, numerous other extended family members, church family and a host of special friends. A celebration of her life is planned for Sunday afternoon, Feb. 2, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. at the New Bethel United Methodist Church located at 836 New Bethel Road in Dayton, TN 37321 with the Reverend Clyde Fitzgerald and the Reverend Andy Mile officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday from 1 p.m. until the 2:30 p.m. service time. The family request that in lieu of flowers memorial donation be made in Alices memory to the New Bethel United Methodist Church.
