Willie Lay, Jr.

Willie Virgil Lay, Jr., passed away Friday, Jan. 24, 2014 at his residence. He was born May 28, 1950 to the late Willie V. and Margaret V. Lay, Sr. and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Doris E. Lay; three daughters, Janella (Douglas) Mahone, of Pine Mountain, Ga., Debbie (Jeff) Famber, of Dalton, Ga., and Kathy Sherryl (Eric) Ervin, of Kensington, Ga.; two sons, Willie V. Lay, III., of Kensington, Ga., and Torrey Lay, of Fort Oglethorpe, Ga.; two brothers, Norman Lay and Johnny (Anita) Lay, of Kensington; sisters, Rose Clemons, Patricia Moore, of Chattanooga, Tenn., Mattie Sue (Randall) Davis; one aunt, Mattie Simpson, of Kensington, Ga.; a host of sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Homegoing Service for Willie V. Lay, Jr. will be held Saturday, Feb. 1, at 2 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church, 20 Parish Lane, Chickamauga, Georgia, with Pastor Hugh Byrd and other Ministers officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday evening from 6-7 p.m. Interment, Garmany Cemetery.
