Sam Elkins

Sam J. Elkins, 94, of Hixson, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2014. Sam was born and raised in Centerville, Tenn., where he attended business school. He worked with TVA and retired in the early 1970s. Sam was a member of Central Church of Christ for over 60 years and the Adult Sunday School class. Sam and his wife loved to travel and they enjoyed their time traveling together to all of the states except Hawaii. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fannie Lou and Sam J. Elkins Sr.; and a brother, Gerold Elkins. Sam is survived by his wife of 56 years, Bettye Roy Elkis; and two cousins, Ada and Corrine, both of Nashville. A graveside service for Sam is scheduled for noon Wednesday at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Minister David Schonhoff officiating.
