Billie Vandiver

Billie Merle Wimberly Vandiver, 74, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, July 1, 2014. Billie was raised in Florence, Ala., and moved to the Ringgold area in 1977. She attended GraceWorks Church and was an avid University of Alabama Crimson Tide Fan. Billie also enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves and NASCAR. She retired from Shaw Industries in 2002 after 40-plus years and was currently working for the Catoosa Co. Board of Education. Billie was preceded in death by her parents, Colonel and Marie Duke Wimberly, and first husband, William "Sonny" Hardeman. She is survived by her children, Vicki (Jerry) Roach of Ringgold, Kim Godfrey of Chattanooga, Jeff Reid of Huntsville, Kelly Hardeman of Ringgold, Kyle (Molly) Reid of Huntsville and Freddy (Erica) Vandiver of Ringgold; sister, Debbie (Tony) Hyatt of Ringgold; brothers, Nelson (Helen) Wimberly of Huntsville and Terry Wimberly of Chattanooga; 11 grandchildren; nine great -grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 5, in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Bill Owens officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the funeral on Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Lakewood Memorial GardensSouth.
