Luther Smith Jr.

Luther Smith Jr., 66, passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 in Chattanooga. He was a graduate of Riverside High School. He also served in the U.S. Army. He was formerly employed with Great American Deli for 31 years. Luther loved to watch sports. He was saved and loved the Lord. He loved people and was diligently working for the Lord. Luther was preceded in death by his father, Luther Smith Sr.; mother, Besty May Smith; brothers, Larry Smith and Bill Jo Smith. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife, Linda Smith; daughters, Frances Smith, Demetria Smith and Carmeisha Griffin; sons, Ronald Blackwell III and Tyler Blackwell; five grandchildren, Christopher Colen, DeVonte Smith, Christian Smith, Doneisha Hyter, CaMere Douglas; sisters, Mary Ann Dallas, Betty Smith, Lois Simmons, and Brenda Smith; brother, James E. Smith; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He will be missed tremendously by family and friends. Thanks to everyone that prayed, encouraged and supported us during this time. Funeral services will be held at noon on Tuesday, July 8, at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, located at 9016 W. Davis Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37411 with Rev. Gerry W. Davis, officiating. Interment National Cemetery. The body will lie in state after noon today at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 622-9995.
