Thomas Nichols Sr.

Thomas Herman Nichols Sr., 80, of Hixson, passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2014, at his home. A veteran of the Korean War, Thomas served his country in the U.S. Army and the Tennessee Army National Guard. He retired from Dixie Yarns after 23 years and from National Print after 16 years of service. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Mildred Nichols; brother, John R. Nichols; and sister, Norma Friar. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn A. Nichols; sons, Tom Nichols Jr., Timothy R. Nichols and Joseph D. (Heather) Nichols; daughters, Terri (Randall) West, Carolyn "Sissy" (Calvin) Whitmire; brother, James (Sue) Nichols; sisters, Mary (Robert) Shaw and Edna (Randy) Veal and eight grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 p.m. today, July 8, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Wilburn Hardyman officiating. Entombment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
