WL Pope

"Dub" Pope, 92, passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2014, at a local health care facility. He was a native of Dutton, Ala., and had lived most of his life in the North Georgia area. He retired from Peerless Woolen Mills Rossville Yarns in 1989 with over 45 years of service. He was a member of the Midway Baptist Church where he had served as deacon, treasurer, music director and Sunday school teacher. His passions in life were God, family, fishing, enjoying the outdoors and wood crafting. He was preceded in death by his wives, Gemima Tigue Pope and Mary Lou Sizemore Pope; granddaughter, Brooke Sizemore; eight brothers; and three sisters. Survivors include his children, Carolyn Little, of Fort Oglethorpe, Faye (Wayne) Pennington, of Ringgold, and Benny (Brenda) Sizemore, of Calhoun, Ga.; brother, Calvin Pope, of Niceville, Fla.; five grandchildren, Rusty Martin, Scott (Gail) Pennington, Brent (Melody) Pennington, Bradley (Kristy) Pennington, and Brent (Wendy) Sizemore; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the South Crest Chapel with the Rev. Joel Jenkins and Rev. Kenneth Brown Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4-9 p.m. today and from 1 p.m. Sunday until the funeral hour at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, located at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
