Beryl Shrum

Beryl Rebecca Allen Shrum, 92, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, July 21, 2014. She was born in Hueyville, Ky., to the late David Murph Allen and Josephine Bentley Allen, but had lived in the Chattanooga and North Georgia areas since the 1960s. She was a member of Cross Connection Assembly of God on Lookout Mountain and retired from the furniture business in 1986 after more than 15 years of service. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother whos true passion in life was loving and caring for her children and grandchildren and G.G. will be truly missed by all that knew her. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Rev. James Roy Shrum Sr.; daughter, Linda Shrum; grandchildren, Jonathan Shrum, Tony Shrum, Richard Shrum and Lacy Gravitt; great-grandson, Preston Riley; two brothers and four sisters. Survivors include her children and spouses, James Roy Shrum Jr., David (Sherry) Shrum, Tim (Ruth) Shrum, Mitchell Shrum, Carolyn (Barry) Riley, Susan (the Rev. Cecil) Gravitt, Sandra (Mike) Gentry and Margrett Stephens; 30 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2014 in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel with Rev. Cecil Gravitt and Rev. Rob Kosch officiating. Burial will be held at 12:30 p.m. CDT/1:30 p.m. EDT at Burns Cemetery in Marion County, Tenn. The family will begin receiving friends from 4-9 p.m. today and prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
