Madge Loggins

Madge S. Loggins, 91, of East Ridge broke the surly bonds of earth and touched the face of God Saturday, May 31, 2014. She was born Nov. 29, 1922, to Mr. and Mrs. C.N. Shipman in Chattanooga. She graduated from Central High School and Edmondson School of Business. She worked for the government during WWII at Fort Oglethorpe and Fort Custer in Michigan. She married Marvin Loggins in 1942, and set about raising her family. She was a loyal member of Jones Memorial United Methodist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin T. Loggins; parents, Charles and Dottie Shipman; and a brother, William "Bill" Shipman. Survivors include three sons, Thomas, David and Edward Loggins; daughters-in-law, Judy Loggins, Marsha Loggins and Adna James; one sister, Rachel Shipman; five grandsons; five great- grandsons and three great-granddaughters. The family would like to thank the loving and caring staff at Consulate Health Care for the love and attention shown to our mother. Mother enjoyed her family, sewing, reading and cooking. She never wanted anyone to be uncomfortable and worked hard making them a part of her world. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 S. Moore Road, with the Rev. Larry Dial officiating. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
