Virginia Cavin

Virginia "Granny Jo" Cavin, 85, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, June 10, 2014, at her residence. She was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga and North Georgia area where she was of the Baptist faith. She worked for many years at ECON Mills in Chattanooga and had also worked for Better Backers in Chatsworth. She was a devoted mother and she was dearly loved and will be missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter, JoAnne Cavin; parents, Fred Hicks and Martha Davis Hicks; and brother, Freddie Hicks. Survivors include her children, Howard Cavin Jr., Kenneth Dewayne Cavin, Pamela (Kenneth) Headrick and Brenda (Ronnie) Norris; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Charlene Masters and Billie Jean (Leonard) Kincer; brother, Kenneth (Margaret) Hicks; dear friend, Pat Dilbeck; and several nieces and nephews. Condolences may be sent to www.lane-southcrestchapel.com. Graveside services will be held at noon Friday at Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park with the Rev. Jackie Swanson officiating. The family will receive friends from noon-8 p.m. today and from 9-11:30 a.m. Friday at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, located at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
