Jackie Gasaway Sr.

Jackie Curtis Gasaway Sr., 72, passed away Thursday, June 12, 2014. He had lived in the Chattanooga and North Georgia areas for most of his life and was of the Baptist faith. He was a Marine Corp. Veteran having served during the Cuban Crisis and had worked as a truck driver for most of his life. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be greatly missed by all that knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lorenzia and Sarah Gasaway; granddaughter, Brandy Chambers; four sisters, Shirley Wilson, Ruby Thompson, Barbara Graham and June Upton; and two brothers, Jerry Gasaway and William Gasaway. Survivors include his loving wife of more than 41 years, Sharon Shuttles Gasaway; children and spouses, Tammy Gasaway, Donny (Jennifer) McGill, all of Ringgold, Kim Gasaway (Mitch) Burnette, of Cohutta, Jackie Gasaway Jr., of Ringgold, and Richie (Jennifer) Gasaway, of Chickamauga; two sisters and brother-in-law, Catherine Brady, of Ringgold and Karen (Stan) Miller, of Chattanooga; 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend, Ray Mitchell. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, June 16, 2014, in Mount Pisgah Baptist Church with Brother Jeremy Fincher officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. today and Monday prior to leaving the funeral home for the service. There will be no visitation on Sunday.
