Valerie Knuettel

Valerie Lynne Knuettel, 57, of Hixson, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2014. She was a native of New Albany, Ind., had lived in Kentucky and had been a resident of the Chattanooga area since 1987. Valerie received "STAR Student Award" for having the best GPA/SAT average at Southern High School in Louisville, Ky., and was a graduate of UT. She worked for Blue Cross/Blue Shield for 11 years. Valerie was a member of Abba's House where she sang in the choir and was preschool teacher in the Glory Train class. She also was involved in the Martha Pullin sewing society. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Armstrong. Survivors include her husband, Terry Knuettel; children, Christopher Scott (Chasta), Nicholas Andrew (Savannah), Matthew Jeremiah (Erin), Benjamin Terry and Sarah Alicia Knuettel; mother, Sherlie (Dennis) Hunley; sisters, Robin White; stepsisters, Angela Hunley and Lisa Gibson; stepbrothers, Dennis Hunley II and Dr. Lawson Hunley; grandchildren, Cody, Caleb and Ethan and future grandson, Greyson; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Abbas House, 5208 Hixson Pike, Hixson, TN 37343 with Pastor Ken Hartley officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery.
