Edna Fick

Edna Lorraine Fick, of Chattanooga, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, June 21, 2014. Born October 14, 1924, at Farmers Creek, Mich., her mother, Mary Meier, gave birth to her in their farm home. Edna attended a one-room, all grades school, where all the children walked to school, rain or shine. She attended Lapeer High School and Midwestern College. She received Christ as her personal Lord and Savior while attending Hunters Creek church. When her husband was called to preach, she called her mother and said, "Lee has been called to preach, what shall I do?" Her mother told her, "be yourself." Edna was a wonderful pastors wife for 20 years, and a faithful missionary wife for 35 years. Edna is survived by her husband of 68 years, Rev. Lee Fick, and her children, Michael Fick and his wife Cherrie, David Fick and his wife Elayne, Deborah Pulsford and her husband Stephen, Sally Moore and her husband Pete. Her son Tommy, who drowned when he was 7, preceded her in death. She was dearly loved, not only by her husband Lee but also by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, by her church, Hamilton Baptist, and by the people of The International Board of Jewish Missions. She remarked from time to time as she battled cancer, that she wanted to go home to Heaven. Our loss is Heavens gain. She cannot come back to us, but we can go to be with her. The Lord has been preparing a place for her. The Bible says, "to be absent here, is to be present with the Lord." The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. today, June 23, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. A celebration of Ednas life will be held at 9 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home chapel with Dr. Virgil Smith and Rev. Allen Lord. Burial will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that all remembrances be sent to the International Board of Jewish Missions, P.O. Box 3307, Hixson, TN 37343. Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson. Please share your thoughts and memories at www.chattanooganorthchapel.com.
