James Elgin Jr.

James W. "Jimmy" Elgin, Jr., 60, of Harrison, passed away Friday, June 20, 2014. A native of Martinsville, Va., he has been a resident of the Chattanooga for the past 17 years. He was a member of Hickory Valley Baptist Church and was retired from DuPont with 35 years of service. At the time of his death he was employed with Lowes. He loved playing golf and working in his yard. He is preceded in death by his father, James W. Elgin Sr. Survivors include his wife, Faye P. Elgin; son, Alex (Stephanie) Elgin, Harrison; granddaughter, Sophie Grace Elgin; mother, Cornelia "Corky" Elgin, Ridgeway, Va.; sister, Terri Nelson, Bassett, Va. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. today, June 23, at the Hickory Valley Baptist Church with Pastor Chris Hayes officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church from 6:30-8 p.m. The body will be sent to Bassett, Va., for additional services and burial.
