Clifford McCollum

Clifford Wesley "Tip" McCollum, 88, passed away Wednesday morning, June 25, 2014, in a Rome hospital. A native of Chattooga County, Georgia, he was born to the late John Wesley and Sarah Ovelle Barron McCollum on September 30, 1925. Mr. McCollum was a member of the Trion First Baptist Church, a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WW II, and was retired Vice President of AmSouth Bank. Surviving are his wife, Edith Morrow McCollum; daughter and companion, Ann McCollum and Terry Hawkins of Trion; son and daughter-in-law, John W. and June McCollum of Kennsington, Ga.; grandchildren, Emily and Travis Poole and Laura and Steven Butler; great-grandson, Noah Butler; sister, Carolyn Dunwoody of LaFayette; special nephew, Greg Morrow; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will held Sunday, June 29, at 4 p.m. from the Trion First Baptist Church with Dr. Floyd Roebuck, Dr. Warren Morehead, and Rev. Mike Woods officiating, interment in West Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers, Eric Dunwoody, Tom Morrow, Greg Morrow, Bryan Quintrell, Britt Evans, and Tim Chamlee. Honorary Pallbearers, Rick Morrow, David Ramsome, David Dunwoody, Curtis Nuckols, Jimmy Barron, Gordon McCollum, Billy McCollum, and the Mens Sunday School Class of Trion First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 p.m. until the service hour at the church. The family request no flowers and suggest contributions to the Trion First Baptist Church. Earle Rainwater Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
