James Burkart

James Alphonse Burkart, 94, passed away June 24, 2014, at the Alexian Village on Signal Mountain. He was the husband of Naomi Graham Burkart and the son of the late Alphonse Charles and Alma Shiel Burkart. Preceding him in death other than his parents were infant son, John Michael Burkart; and sisters, Marjorie Coulter, Jeanette VonWerssowetz, Betty Jane Thurmond and Alma Lea Crowley. In addition to his wife of 66 years, he is survived by his six children, Clinton Foster (Carol) Goodwin, Constance Burkart (Jack) Leonard, James Alphonse (Diane) Burkart, Jr, Marjorie Burkart (Tom) Borchers, Susan Burkart (Vic) Wesley and William Adams (Tammi) Burkart; 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. A celebration of his life and funeral services will be held at a future date.
