Jessie Little

LaFAYETTE Jessie Lee Turnipseed Little, 84, of Phenix City, Ala., departed this life at her residence on Friday, March 7, 2014. Jessie was born Sept. 6, 1929, in Rock Spring, Ga., to the late John H. Turnipseed and Nancy Rozella "Mattie" Parker Turnipseed. She moved to Phenix City with her husband and children in 1969. She will be remembered as one who loved, cherished and was devoted to her family. She taught by example what it means to live a faith-driven life of love and service to others. She was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church and delighted in singing with the Amen Choir. We believe she is now in Heaven, rejoicing with her family, enjoying the fruits of her faith, and still urging us onward to the challenges ahead. We shall miss her but will continue to be inspired by her love. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by all her siblings, James Bryant Turnipseed, Arthur Randolph Turnipseed, John Franklin Turnipseed, Ora Mae Turnipseed, Virginia Odie Turnipseed Young and Cecil Rebron Turnipseed. She is survived by her adoring and devoted husband of 68 years, Lester D. Little Jr.; four children, Charlotte Little, Peggy Little, Jean Little (Skip) Jones and Susan Little (Doug) Wall; seven grandchildren, Lesli Keefe, Terri Keefe (Scott) Long, Jessica Jones, Amanda Jones (Richard) Brito, Hannah Jones, Andrew Wall, Noah Wall; two great-grandchildren, Dawson and Carson Long. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Amen Choir at Lakewood Baptist Church, 4011 Lakewood Drive, Phenix City, AL 36867. Graveside service at 2 p.m. today at the City Cemetery in LaFayette, Ga.
