Widney Brown

Widney Brown DAYTON Widney Taylor Brown, 92, died Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at Rhea Medical Center. He was born in Evensville Tenn. The son of John and Mary Elizabeth Wilkey. He was adopted at an early age by Jack and Madge Brown of Dayton. Widney was a WWII veteran with the US Navy serving in North Africa. He owned and operated Brown Chevrolet in Dayton until his retirement in 1975. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Dayton. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and was a founding member of Dayton Golf and Country Club. He also served on the board of directors of Bryan College. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a man of the Christian faith and one of his greatest joys in life was the study of the Word of God. He was proceeded in death by a daughter, Patricia Brown Gonzalez; 10 brothers; and two sisters. He is survived by one sister, Ruby Runyan, of Bakewell Tenn.; and three sons, Jack (Ursula), David (Sue), of Dayton Donald (Vivian), of Maryville Tenn.; seven grandchildren, Randi Borroff, Chris Gonzalez, David Gonzalez, Tricia Johnson, Jack II, Philipp, David Ray II; and 16 great-grandchildren, Bailey, Dylan, Reece, Eleanor Ray, Nicole, Tim, Rocko, Kyndyle, Gwyndalyn, John, Samuel, Emily, Amber, Joshua, Ashlynn and Jackson. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be given to First United Methodist Church Building Fund or First United Methodist Church WNL. No visitation.
