Minnie Allmond

Minnie Keen Locklear Allmond, 84, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at her residence, following an extended illness. Mrs. Allmond, a lifetime resident of Chattooga County, was born in the Teloga Community on May 1, 1930 to the late Elgin and Bertie Simmons Keen. She was a member of the Beersheba Presbyterian Church, a 1948 graduate of Menlo High School, and was retired from the spinning department of Riegel Textile Corporation. Mrs. Allmon was preceded in death by former husband, Ben Locklear; brother, Elbert Keen; granddaughter, Amy Elizabeth Farrar; son-in-law, Tarry Dupree; and brother-in-law, Bill Shamblin. Surviving are her husband, Sam Allmond; daughters and spouse, Gail and Greg Cook, Edith Dendy and Barbara Dupree; stepchildren and spouse, DeWayne and Ruby Allmond, Dewey Allmond and Tracy Michelle Allmond; sistersand brothers-in-law-Jo Shamblin, Evelyn Willigham and Gene Day, Shelby and Paul Ward, Mary and Harold Floyd; brother and sisters-in-law, David and Marlene Keen and Charlotte Keen; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today, May 10, from the Beersheba Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Ronald Ragon, Rev. Jack Westlund, Rev. Ken Johnson and Chaplain Ricky Studdard officiating. Interment in West Hill Cemetery.
