Minnie Allmond

Minnie Keen Locklear Allmond, 84, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at her residence, following an extended illness. Mrs. Allmond, a lifetime resident of Chattooga County, was born in the Teloga Community on May 1, 1930 to the late Elgin and Bertie Simmons Keen. She was a member of the Beersheba Presbyterian Church, a 1948 graduate of Menlo High School, and was retired from the spinning department of Riegel Textile Corporation. Mrs. Allmon was preceded in death by former husband, Ben Locklear; brother, Elbert Keen; granddaughter, Amy Elizabeth Farrar; son-in-law, Tarry Dupree; and brother-in-law, Bill Shamblin. Surviving are her husband, Sam Allmond; daughters and spouse, Gail and Greg Cook, Edith Dendy and Barbara Dupree; stepchildren and spouse, DeWayne and Ruby Allmond, Dewey Allmond and Tracy Michelle Allmond; sistersand brothers-in-law-Jo Shamblin, Evelyn Willigham and Gene Day, Shelby and Paul Ward, Mary and Harold Floyd; brother and sisters-in-law, David and Marlene Keen and Charlotte Keen; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today, May 10, from the Beersheba Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Ronald Ragon, Rev. Jack Westlund, Rev. Ken Johnson and Chaplain Ricky Studdard officiating. Interment in West Hill Cemetery. Active Pallbearers: Clint Strange, Chris Mosley, Adam Dupree, DeWayne Allmond, Tim Dendy, and Gene Wesson; Honorary Pallbearers: Billy Locklear, Kelsey Dendy, Tifanny Cook, Erik Dupree, Maybelle Broyles, Chase Dendy, Kirk Farrar, Ruby Allmond, Women of Beersheba Presbyterian Church, and Nurses of Life Choice Hospice. Earle Rainwater Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
