Joe Holder

Raymond Joe Holder, 79, died Wednesday, May 14, 2014, in a Chattanooga hospital. The son of the late William "Mack" and Ellen Raulston Holder, he was a proud U.S. Army Veteran having served as a tank driver and was briefly stationed in Germany, "close to Elvis Presley." He had also served as the Volunteer Fire Department Chief in Kimball, Tenn., for several years. He loved South Pittsburg Pirates Basketball and was an avid UT Volunteer fan. He was a longtime employee and friend of Hidden Valley Golf Course in Long Island, Ala. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, William M. Holder and Don Holder and twin sister, Rose Holder. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Marlene Holder, of Marietta, Ga.; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends, including the Hidden Valley Golf Course family of players. Funeral services will be conducted from the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home at 2 p.m. CDTtoday, May 17, 2014. Interment with military honors provided by the Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard will be in Cumberland View Cemetery in Kimball, Tenn.
