Don Strong FORT OGLETHORPE Donald Edward "Don" Strong, 71, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday May 20, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Strong has been a resident of Fort Oglethorpe for the past 30 years and was of the Baptist faith. Captain Strong was retired from the Chattanooga Fire Department and was a veteran of the United States Army. Survivors are his loving wife of 43 years Marie Strong; daughter, Lisa (Allen) Maroon, of Fort Oglethorpe; brothers Louis (Gretta) Strong Jr., of Little Rock, Ark., and David Strong, of Dyersburg, Tenn.; grandchildren, Tiffany (Drew) Watson, of Ringgold and Matt Adkins, of Fort Oglethorpe; three great-grandchildren Emma, Caden and Charlotte Watson. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Mark Smith officiating. Interment in the National Cemetery.
