Jackie Melton

Jackie Jeanette Melton, 71, departed this life Friday, May 23, 2014 with her granddaughters, Jaci, Holly, and Heather at her side. She was born in Chattanooga to the late Charles and Minnie Dagnan and was of the Baptist Faith. Jackie was a loving mother, sister, and Nana and will be missed by all that knew her. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Lisa Edwards and her husband, James William Melton. Survivors include her children, Susie Morgan, David Smiddy, Janice Kidwell, Vivian Murphy; sisters, Dorothy Deckelman, Mary Mason, Linda Shaw, Pauline Stoker; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2014 in the chapel with Evangelist Mike Keith officiating. Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Wilson Funeral Home in care of Jackie Melton. Arrangements are by W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home-Fort Oglethorpe, Ga.
