Robert Queen Sr.

Robert F. Queen Sr., 80, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, July 5, 2015. He was born in Catoosa County to the late Johnny Gordon Queen Sr., and Flora Sloan Queen. He had resided in the Mt. Pisgah community many years where he was a former member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. He had resided in Trion/West LaFayette area for the past 30 years and was a active member of Waterville Baptist Church. He worked in maintence at Standard Coosa Thatcher/National Yarn and retired in 1986. He then moved to Trion to take up his love and enjoyment of farming. He and his family enjoyed raising poultry and had Queens Poultry Farms. He was a member of the The Cattlemens Association, The Young Farmers and Poultry Growers Associations and Fox Hunters Club. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Julene Queen, Betty Westbrook, Doris Davis, Elizabeth Cantrell, Johnny Queen Jr., Billy Queen and Douglas Queen. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lois Thacker Queen of Trion; their children, Sidney (Deborah) Queen of Trion, Robert F. "Bobby" Queen of Rossville, Ga., Darlene (Brian) Smith of Ooltewah, Tenn., Harold (Melanie) Queen of Delray Beach, Fla., Melinda (Scott) Cole of Ringgold, Ga.; siblings, Leslie Queen of Chickamauga, Ga., Ann Stockburger of Ringgold, Marie Corneilson of South Carolina; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 3-8 p.m. at the funeral home and from 11 a.m.-noon prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday, July 8, 2015, at Waterville Baptist Church in Trion, with Pastor Sam Barrett and Lowell Cantrell. Burial will follow at Crest Lawn Memorial Park, Noble, Ga.
