Bud Stokes

Bud Stokes, 69, a resident of Birchwood, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga. Bud was a son of the late Orlando and Zillie Sims Stokes and was retired from ADM Milling in Chattanooga, with 31 years of service. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a special friend to many. Bud was a faithful member of the Burdette Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joann Welch Stokes; a son, Jeffrey Stokes; and a grandson, Chris Howell. Bud leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 36 years, Dorothy McDowell Stokes, of Birchwood; daughters and sons-in-law, Stephanie and Keith Bettis, of Birchwood, Kim and Brian Brown, of Ooltewah, and Stephanie Watts of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Annie Stokes, Emily Howell, Destany Graham, Bailey Graham, Zack Brown, Chris Brown and Dustin Brown; and a great-granddaughter, Emma Grace Gilbert; two sisters; two brothers; several nieces, nephews extended family members and a host of friends also survive. A Remembrance of Life Funeral Service will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2015, at Burdette Baptist Church, Birchwood, with the Rev. James A. Staton officiating. Interment will follow in New McDonald Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
