Charles Lusk

Charles Ray Lusk, 73, passed away Thursday, Oct. 1, 2015, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was a lifelong resident of Rossville and a United States Air Force veteran. Charles was a Deacon and Elder of Fort Oglethorpe Church of Christ and longtime Sunday School teacher at the Rossville Church of Christ. He was an avid community and civic leader and a groundbreaker in community banking. Charles worked for the Fort Oglethorpe State Bank from 1967-1983, where he served as their President and CEO. In 1983, Charles went to work for Rossville Bank, serving as their President and CEO until 2007. He was an avid member of the North Georgia community serving in many organizations and boards. Charles was Rossville High School President in 1959, Young Citizen of the year award, Fort Oglethorpe Council Chamber of Commerce in 1975, Walker County Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Chamber member award in 1994-1995, Community Bankers Association of Georgia 2012 Lifetime Service Award. Charles served on the board of the Community Bankers Association of Georgia, Independent Bankers Association of America (IBAA) and the Walker and Catoosa County Chamber of Commerce and served on the board of Greater Chattanooga Christian Services an Childrens Home. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, James and Dortha Lusk; and brother, Cecil Lamar Lusk. Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years Pat Crawford Lusk; children, Al (Doris) Lusk, of Rossville, Kim (Mike) Hardeman, of Rock Spring, Clark (Michelle) Lusk, of Ringgold, and Brooke (Shane) Stanfill, of Chattanooga; brothers, Jimmy Clark (Judy) Lusk, of Chattanooga and Mike (Denise) Lusk, of Ringgold; sister, Jane (Jerry) Hollifield, of Fort Oglethorpe; brother-in-law, Larry (Billie) Crawford, of Fort Oglethorpe; sister-in-law, Linda (John) ONeal, of Cleveland; grandchildren, Heather Lusk, of Hixson, Clint, Clay and Chase Hardeman, of Rock Spring, Katie, Caleb and Kyle Lusk, of Ringgold, Marshall and Charlie Stanfill, of Chattanooga; great-grandchildren, Hailee and Brayden Harvey; along with several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Rossville Church of Christ with Brother Mike Lusk, Brother Jack James, Brother Phillip Burse and Brother Michael Ray Lusk officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Heritage Funeral Home, Battlefield Parkway and 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday at Rossville Church of Christ.
