Effton Mitchell

Effton E. "Mitch" Mitchell Jr., 61, passed away Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015, at the Hospice Care Center of Chattanooga surrounded by his loved ones. Effton was born on May 7, 1954, in Hayti, Mo., to the late Effton E. Mitchell Sr and Peggy Mitchell of Red Bay, Ala. Effton was an artist and member of the Tennessee Water Color Art Society. He loved to sail and had many adventures in the Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic. But his greatest love was to be on a mountain stream fly fishing for trout. Many of his paintings reflected his love of the mountains and streams. He leaves behind his wife of 27 years, Janan; son, Brenn Mitchell of Nesbit, Miss.; granddaughter, Audra; grandson, Kayden; two sisters, Janet (Tony) Allison and Dana (Stephen) Hester; and many nieces and nephews. Effton will be greatly missed, not only by his family, but the many friends he loved. A celebration service will be held in Red Bay at a later date.
