Patricia Steele

Patricia Ramona Steele, 85, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, Aug. 30, 2015. She grew up in Winchester, Tenn., before moving to the Chattanooga area when she was 12 years old but had also lived in Asheville, N.C. for more than 20 years. She was a member of Rock Spring Baptist Church where she was the Sunday School Teacher for the Willing Workers Ladies Sunday School Class. She enjoyed quilting, gardening and planting flowers and loved her cats and dogs. She retired from Synthetic Industries in 1999 after more than 20 years of service as a Lab Technician and was a loving and devoted, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee DeForrest Steele; brothers, Melvin, Dearel, William and Bobbie Jo Houser; and sisters, Marie Russell and Margaret Byrd. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Jan (Kenneth) Steele, of Chickamauga, Ga.; sons and daughters-in-law, Tim (Trish) Steele of Virginia, Kenneth (Sharon) Steele of Weaverville, N.C., and Ronald Steele, of Rock Spring, Ga.; sister, Brenda Lathem, of Chattanooga; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015, in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel with Pastor Chris ONeal and Pastor Kevin Becker officiating. Burial will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 4 p.m. today, all day Wednesday and prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
