Mary Anglin

Mary Regina (Jean) Tighe Kittrell Anglin, 89, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2016. Born May 23, 1927, in Scott County, Tenn., to the late Emily Bell Lowe Tighe and Frank Joseph Tighe Sr. She was also preceded in death by her husband and the father of her children, Judge Willard W. Kittrell Jr., of Harriman Tenn.; second husband, James P. Anglin, of Kingston, Tenn.; brother Frank (Sunny) Tighe, of Huntsville, Tenn.; and sister, Madeline Tighe Bilbrey, of Knoxville. She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn E. (Kitty) Kittrell Miller (John), of Chattanooga; and son, Matthew (Matt) Tighe Kittrell (Ellie), of Knoxville; grandchildren, William J. Miller, of Fort Bragg, Calif., Samuel T. Kittrell, Benjamin G. Kittrell, and Zachary W. Kittrell, all of Knoxville; brother-in-law, David Bilbrey, of Knoxville; sister-in-laws, Dorothy Tighe, of Huntsville, Tenn., Gaye Kittrell Kirkland (Floyd), of Dayton, Ohio; brother-in-law, Gary Kittrell, of Harriman, Tenn.; cousin Janet Tighe, of Henderson, Nev.; and several beloved nephews. Jean attended school at St. Joseph Academy in Cincinnati, Ohio, and Huntsville High School in Huntsville, Tenn. She graduated from Tennessee Polytechnic Institute (now Tennessee Tech) in Cookeville, Tenn., in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Science. At the urging of her father, she had taken the previous year off from school to stay at home and console her mother over the 1950 murder of her half-brother, James Jay Lindsey Tighe, of Laredo, Texas. Following college graduation, Jean taught school at Sunbright High School for two years, then married Willard in 1953. She taught elementary school for 13 years in Harriman City Schools. Five years after Willard’s passing in 1981, Jean married Jim Anglin from Kingston, Tenn. They resided in Farragut, Tenn., and Sebring, Fla., for several years. Jean has most recently been a resident of Arbor Terrace in Knoxville, and NHC in Farragut. Active in many different churches throughout her lifetime, her most recent church affiliation was with First Farragut United Methodist Church in Farragut, Tenn. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016, at Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel, with a celebration of life, officiated by Rev. Mark Beebe, to follow. Private burial will be at Roane Memorial Gardens in Rockwood, Tenn. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Alzheimer’s Tennessee, the American Heart Association, or the charity of your choice.
