Leonard Haggard

Leonard R. Haggard, 91, of Chattanooga, passed away Friday, Feb. 5, 2016, surrounded by family. He was a World War II veteran who served his country in the U.S. Army during the Battle of the Bulge. In the 1950s, he played live music with his brother and friends on radio station WEPG in South Pittsburg. An active member of Lake Hills Church of God, he served as clerk for many years, and had been employed for over 30 years as a truck driver. His parents, George Washington and Leona Looney Haggard, preceded him in death along with several siblings. He is survived by his wife of almost 70 years, Betty Campbell Haggard; sons, Claude (Gail) Haggard, Michael Haggard, Larry (Cherie) Haggard and Ronnie (Barbara) Nelson; brother, Winfred (Betty) Haggard; grandchildren, Jay (Sahne), Joy (Denny), Ronnie Jr. (Paula), Billy (Katie), Jon (Ashley), Jessica (Jeremy) and Megan; great-grandchildren, Katie, Savannah, Blake, Cooper, Tatsi, Mason, Cory, Jadon, J.P.; great-great-grandchildren, Kadence and Kaiden; several nieces and nephews; special friends and neighbors. Funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel at 3 p.m. CST, Monday, Feb. 8, 2016, Rev. Bill Burke officiating. Interment will follow in Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens.
