Hattie Taylor

Mrs. Hattie Ellerby Rivers Taylor, 93, went to be with the Lord Feb. 1, 2016, at Consulate Health Care Nursing Home from Alzheimer. She was a member of the First Corinthians Missionary Baptist Church until her health failed. She was president of the Mothers Board. She was a breast cancer survivor for over 40 years. She often counseled and sat with other women who were frightened about their situation. She let them know that with God, all things are possible, because she was "living" proof. As mother started to lose her memory, she said that she may not remember much, but she still remembered her God. She leaves to cherish her memory, sons, William O. (DeHavilland) Rivers Jr., of Chattanooga and Alfred A. (Sharon) Taylor, of Atlanta, Ga.; daughters, Alice Taylor (James) Keith and Marion J. Taylor, both of Chattanooga; godson, Dwight M. Ash; and beloved brother, Charles (Greather) Tinker, both of Chattanooga; a host of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews and friends. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016. in the Chapel, with Rev. J. W. Strickland officiating and Rev. Timothy Careathers moderator. Interment in Forest Hills Cemetery. The body will lie in state after noon today, the family will receive friends from 7 8 p.m., at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 622-9995.
