Sam Tollett

HAMPTON, Va. — Sam Tollett, 71, ended his many years of pain and suffering on Monday, Nov. 21, 2016. A native of Chattanooga, he retired in Hampton, Va., after serving in the Air Force for 24 1/2 years, including two tours in Vietnam. He was a member of the American Legion Post 31 (in Hampton), Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Disabled Veterans. He was also a member of the Boy Scouts and was presented his 60 year pin earlier this year. Sam was a member of two local volksmarch clubs - Gators Volksmarsch Club and Virginia Vagabonds, where he served as club president. He served as treasurer for the Virginia Volkssport Association. Sam is survived by his wife of 50 years, Annette Tollett; son, Keith Tollett; and two very special young people who came to live with him, Elizabeth, of San Francisco, and Vince Orbison, of Fort Hood, Texas. He is also survived by two brothers, Shelby and Bill Tollett, both of Chattanooga. He was "Dad" to many Boy Scouts. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016, at W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the funeral service. Burial with full military honors will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the American Volksport Association, 1001 Pat Booker Road, Suite 101, Universal City, TX 68148. Arrangements by W. J.
