Violet Elmore

Violet Juanita Elmore, 94, of Chattanooga, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016, in a local health care facility. She was born Sept. 12, 1922, in Chattanooga, into a prominent family of pioneer settlers to the late Frank and Dolly Higdon. Mrs. Elmore was a graduate of Central High School, class of 1940. She was a former member of East Chattanooga Baptist Church and later moved her membership to Northside Community Church. She had worked in the accounting departments of Provident Life Insurance Company, Miller Brothers, and Chattanooga Royal. Mrs. Elmore was a founding charter member of the Chattanooga Doll Club. Her husband, Rex Sholar Elmore Sr., preceded her in death. Survivors include her son, Rex Sholar Elmore Jr.; and daughter, Sandra (Tom) Ryall, both of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Laura (Matt) Cole, Eric (Amanda) Ryall, and Mary Loftin; great-grandchildren, Cooper Loftin, Garrett Loftin, Benjamin Cole and Phillip Cole. The family will receive friends Friday, Oct. 21, 2016, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery, with Pastor Mitchell Reaves officiating.
