Nolan Knowles

LaFAYETTE — Nolan Arthur “Audie” Knowles, 60, passed away at his residence surrounded by his family on Friday, April 21, 2017. He was born in Montgomery, Ala., and had resided most of his life in Northwest Georgia. He was a former employee of the Roper Corporation in LaFayette for more than 20 years and had been an employee with Shaw Industries at the SP-Plant for the past 10 years. Audie loved playing his bass guitar to all styles of music and listening to all styles of music as well. He also enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson Sportster any chance he got. Audie was a classic car and muscle car fan, especially anything that had flames that could go fast. He also enjoyed seeking knowledge, whether it be through the History Channel or studying his family ancestry. He was preceded in death by his father, Forrest Durell Knowles and stepfather, Roland Floyd. He is survived by his mother, Grace Floyd, of Rock Springs, Ga.; his loving wife, Lisa Bates Knowles, of LaFayette, Ga.; their children, Brittany (Lee) Dawson, Michael Lee (Julie) Stancil, all of Summerville, Ga., William (Abbie) Stancil, of Lyerly, Ga.; sisters, Bonita Costner, Teresa Thomas, both of Chickamauga, Ga., Danny (Cheryl) Knowles, of Rock Spring, Ga., Mike (Janice) Knowles, of Ringgold, Ga., Ray (Anita) Floyd, of Louisiana; his beloved fur babies, Millie Mae and Nub Knowles; grandchildren, Darrah, Brylie, Mason, Landon, Josiah, Aerianna, Kaleb; several nieces and nephews. The family will have a celebration of Audie’s life from noon until the service at 2 p.m. in the chapel on Saturday, April 29, 2017.
