Lamar Yates

ROSSVILLE — Lamar Cantrell Yates, 69, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2017, at his home. Born on Sept. 28, 1947, to the late Harold Yates and Margaret Bryson, he was a lifelong resident of Catoosa County and was of the Baptist faith. He was a member of Crawfish Springs Lodge #300 F&AM in Chickamauga. Lamar loved animals, especially his babygirl Sassy, motorcycles, and the elderly. He had a lovable sense of humor where he enjoyed laughing and making others laugh. Survivors include his loving wife of 22 years, Mary Ruth Yates; his Chihuahua, Sassyfrass; three children; brother, Cliff (Lynn) Yates and Barry Yates; sisters, Cindy (Carl) Overturf and Deborah Spaulding. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lakewood Memory Gardens, South with Brian Haney officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tenn. His loving wife Mary invested so much of her time in loving and caring for her husband Lamar. Arrangements by Heritage Funeral Home & Crematory, Battlefield Parkway.
