Wesley Yarbrough

FLINTSTONE — Wesley “Alton” Yarbrough, 84, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 26, 2017. He was born July 25, 1932, in Sand Rock, Ala., to the late Robert Wesley Yarbrough and Linnie Vaughn Yarbrough Strawn. He was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga Valley area and was of the Christian faith. He was self-employed for most of his life clearing timber and was the owner/operator of Yarbrough Sawmill. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and hunting. He was a loving and devoted brother, husband, father and grandfather who will be truly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Reva Fay Epps Yarbrough; twin brother, Robert Dalton Yarbrough; half-brothers, J.C. Middlebrooks and Jerry Middlebrooks, half-sister, Sharon Busby; and grandson, Joshua Allen Yarbrough. Survivors include his children and their spouses, Hershel and Linda Yarbrough, of Gaylesville, Ala., Wesley Eugene “Gene” and Margie Yarbrough, of Chickamauga, Ga., Carolyn Fay and Greg Gilstrap, of Lakeview, Ga., Carl and Teresa Yarbrough, of Trenton, Ga., David and Sherry Yarbrough, of Menlo, Ga., Janice Hulsey, of Chickamauga, Ga., Wanda and Greg Bowman, of Dalton, Ga., and Allen and Diane Yarbrough, of LaFayette, Ga.; sister, Mary Lee Brown, of Gaylesville, Ala.; 20 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. The family would like to express their thanks to the granddaughters and the staff of Parkside Nursing Home and Hearth Hospice for their loving care of Mr. Yarbrough during his final days here on earth. The family will receive friends today from 5 to 9 p.m. and Saturday morning after 10 a.m. prior to the service. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 29, 2017, in the chapel with Pastor James Helton officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery, Gaylesville, Ala.
