Vivian Lorentz

Vivian Chaney Fricks Lorentz, 89, passed away Jan. 7, 2017, in Madison, Wis. She was born in Chattanooga, and also lived in Atlanta, Ga., Park Forest, Ill., Chicago Heights, Ill., Corpus Christie, Texas, and Clemson, S.C., before moving back to Chattanooga, in 1984. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Edwin H. Fricks; her second husband, Roy E. Lorentz; parents, Charles R. and Thelma M. Chaney; brother, Charles R. Chaney, Jr.; sister-in-law, Becky Chaney; and nephew, Bill Chaney. Survivors include her son Lane W. Fricks, of Monticello, Ill.; daughter, Cathy F. (Peter) Thomas, of Verona, Wis.; sister, Polly (Bill) Lane, Chattanooga; stepsons, Roy E. Lorentz III, of Miami, Fla., Thomas L. Lorentz, of Memphis, John Heck, of Port Charlotte, Fla., William J. Heck, of Signal Mountain; and 11 step-grandchildren. She was a member of Brainerd United Methodist Church, the Brainerd United Methodist Women, the Open Door Sunday School Class, the Wolftever Fishing Club, and the Creeks Bend Golf Club. A memorial service will be held at Brainerd United Methodist Church on May 1, 2017, at 10 a.m., with Rev. Dr. Dennis Flaugher officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Brainerd United Methodist Church.
