Euthema Deaton

Euthema Haddock Deaton, 99, of Chattanooga, Tenn., died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, at her home. She was a member of Brainerd Baptist Church, the Grace Sunday school class, Keenagers, telephone committee and a volunteer for CONTACT. Euthema graduated from Central High School in 1934 and attended Edmondson School of Business. Euthema retired in 1980 from Southern Railway System in Washington, D.C., as Assistant to the Treasurer. She was the widow of Carson C. Deaton and daughter of the late, Jesse J. and Maggie Dolan Haddock. She was the sister of the late, Ruth Hale and J. Grady Haddock. Survivors include her brother, John B. (Betty Ling) Haddock, of St. Charles, Mo.; stepson, Glenn L. (Linda) Deaton; granddaughter, Angela Deaton (Shane) Harding, of Monroe, N.C.; nieces and nephews, Patricia Hale (Colbert) Whitaker, J. Mickey (Karen) Haddock, Ronald G. (Patricia) Haddock, Susan Haddock (Stephen) Horne, Suzanne Haddock (Larry) Thompson, of St. Peters, Mo., and several great-nieces and nephews. The family would like to give a special thanks to her wonderful, loving caregivers. Their help allowed her to continue living at her home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the East Brainerd Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 8214 East Brainerd Road with Rev. Steve Rowland officiating. Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering at Brainerd Baptist Church or to the charity of your choice.
