Jewel Mahan

Jewel Damron Mahan, 87, of Chattanooga, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017. She was born in Beauty, Ky., to the late Frank and Vernie Damron but had lived many years in Ohio, Arizona, Kentucky and Tennessee. She was of the Baptist faith that always enjoyed being a part of her church, she enjoyed singing, playing her guitar and crocheting. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother who will be truly missed by all who knew her. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Elijah Stepp Sr., Roy Stepp, James Mahan; daughter-in-law, Sheila Stepp and son-in-law, Earl Dyer. Survivors include her children, Vernie Dyer, of Chattanooga, Tenn., Phyllis Lanier, (Taylor), of Elkhart, Ind., Paul Stepp, of Eastover, S.C., and Elijah Stepp Jr. (Marlene), of Las Vegas, Nev.; sister, Wanda Sue Bowen (Herman), of Warfield, Ky.; brothers, Arnold Damron (Barb), of Broken Arrow, Okla., Frank Damron (Bette), of Shelby, Ohio, Fonzo Damron (Helen), of Wooster, Ohio and Malcolm Damron (Sylvia), of Columbus, Ohio; 18 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild and extended family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017, in the Phelps & Sons Funeral Home in Inez, Ky.
