Larry Melton

Larry Joe Melton, 76, passed away Monday, March 21, 2017. A lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area, he was retired from American Electrical and Dodge City. He was a member of the Tyner United Methodist Church, the Vic Myers Sunday School Class and the Ralph Pennington Men’s Prayer Breakfast. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp; a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion. In his spare time he loved fishing and spending time with his Sunday School class. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Ann Melton. Survivors include his daughter, Kandi (Rick) Hutton; granddaughter, Tiffany Hutton; son, Duane Melton; brother, Jackie D. Melton Sr.; three sisters, Carolyn Holloway, Rhonda Stacey and Lisa Stewart; several nieces and nephews, cousins and special friends, Kathy and Jeff Blakney. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to the Tyner United Methodist Church Children’s Ministry or the Tyner Children’s Playground Fund at 6805 Standifer Gap Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday, at Tyner United Methodist Church, with Rev. Charlie Harrison officiating. Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at the East Brainerd Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 8214 East Brainerd Road.
