Frances Hackney

Frances Hackney, 92, of Soddy-Daisy passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at her home. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all who knew her. Frances was born on May 11, 1924, in Etowah, Tenn., to the late, Carter Duncan Payne and Bessie Leming Payne. She was a member of Christ Family Church of God in Soddy-Daisy and a 53 year member of the Dayton Chapter No. 360 Order of the Eastern Star where she served as a Worthy Matron. Frances and her husband owned and operated Klip-N-Kurl Beauty Salon on Brainerd Road for more than 30 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Willard T. "Dick" Hackney; brothers, Doc Ellis Payne and Erskine P. Payne; sister, Dana Anderson Goldston. Survivors include her brother, Dr. Jack (Sydney Margaret) Payne; sons, Terry (Patty) Hackney, Thomas S. (Carol) Hackney and Tim (Mary) Hackney; grandchildren, Kelli (Eddie) Burger, Julie Hackney, Scot Hackney and Chad Hackney; great granddaughters, Kate and Maggie Burger; as well as many other special family members. The family wants to give their thanks and appreciation to her loving care givers and especially Sue Corder, Sherry Barnes, Sue Jones, Mary Alice Wright and Katelyn Hartwell. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2017, from 3 to 7 p.m., followed by funeral services at 7 p.m., with Rev. Calvin Nunley officiating. Interment will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
