John Crox

MARIETTA — John Foy Crox, Jr., 81, went to be beside his Lord on Saturday, March 25, 2017. He was born in Chattanooga, to parents, Sara Lois and John Foy Crox, Sr. on Nov. 11, 1935. John was a graduate of the University of Chattanooga. He had a successful career as an officer in the United States Army until he retired at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. John was a member of Mount Bethel United Methodist Church as well as a member of the NRA, MOAA, and Sigma Chi. He is survived by his children, John Francis Croix (Paula) and Annette Marie Crox Karem (Scott); step son, David Michael Holmes (Colleen); eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his loving wife, Marthola Hitchcock Crox. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org. Visitation will be held at H.M. Patterson & Son Canton Hill Chapel on Tuesday, March 28, 2017, from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at Mount Bethel United Methodist Church, Marietta, Georgia, on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at 11 a.m., with internment to follow at 1:30 p.m., at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Ga.
