Shirley Wilkerson

DAYTON — Shirley Van Wilkerson, 84, passed away March 26, 2017.Shirley Van Wilkerson born in Jefferson County, TN on December 8, 1932 to the late Ance and Mary E. Wilkerson. He passed on March 26, 2017 Van grew up in Jefferson City, Tenn., where he attended school at Nelson- Mary High school and later attended College at Tenn. State University and Tenn. Tech. He served 31 years with the Department of Corrections and retired from Taft Youth Center where he served as Principle for 14 years. Van was a devoted husband, father, brother grandfather and friend. He was a longtime member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses in Dayton, Tenn. He loved spending time in the Ministry. He served as an Elder and Pioneer Full Time Minister for many years. He loved teaching others about Jehovah’s Kingdom and it’s blessing to come. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anderson and Mary Thompson Wilkerson; and two sons, Robert and Sheldon Wilkerson. He leaves to cherish his loving memory and kind spirit, his loving and devoted wife of 34 years, Deborah Wilkerson; four children, Shelvy Ali, Walter (Donna), Keith (Jamie) and Amber (Marlon) Sledge; three sisters, Wanda Osborne, Neta Donaldson and Nancy Wilkerson; one brother, Andrew (Janice) Wilkerson; 16 grandchildren, several great- grandchildren; nieces and nephews and dear friends. Service is Sunday, April 2, 2017, at 4 p.m., at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses 2577 Rhea County Hwy, Dayton, TN 37321. Visitation is Sunday, April, 2, 2017, from 1 to 3 p.m., at Coulter-garrison Funeral Home. Interment is Private. Arrangements by: Coulter-Garrison Funeral Home, Inc. Dayton, Tenn., 37321.
