Billy Derryberry

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN — Billy Frank Derryberry, 68, passed away Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017, at his home. He was born in Chickamauga to the late Frank Dewitt Derryberry and Myrtle Loraine Green Derryberry Rock. He served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam where he earned the Combat Infantry Badge, Parchuaute Badge, National Defense Service Medal, two OS Bars, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Sharp Shooter M-16 and M-14 Medals and The Purple Heart. He was a lifelong resident of the Lookout Mountain area and enjoyed fishing. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Rossville Masonic Lodge F&AM #397. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jerry and Bobby Derryberry. He is survived by his children, Angela Derryberry Smith, Jennifer Lynn Derryberry McDonald, both of Lookout Mountain, Ga., Sandy (Danny) Childress, of Trenton, Ga., John Robert Derryberry, of Lookout Mountain, GA.; grandchildren, Jonathan Swader, Robert, Gabriel and Luke McDonald, Billy Suede Smith, Justice and Gavin Childress, Brooklyn and Alexia Derryberry; great-grandchildren, Connor, Carson and Chloe Smith, several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends today from 5 to 9 p.m. and after 10 a.m. prior to the service. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017, in the chapel with Cecil Gravitt officiating.
