Emma Collins

LANETT — Emma Frances Golden Collins, a longtime resident of Opelika and Lanett, Ala., passed away peacefully in her son’s home in Chattanooga, Tenn., on Friday, Sept. 8, 2017. She was born Feb. 5, 1920, in Notasulga, Ala., to Pauline Trammell Golden and R.T. Golden. She was a life-long member of First Christian Church in Lanett, and was preceded in death by her husband Harvey Roy Collins Jr; sister, Doris Millican; brother, Richard Golden (Virginia); and her first husband, William L. (Bud) Sorrells, a casualty in 1945 during World War II. She is survived by her son Harvey Roy Collins III (Mary Jo) and their son Charlie Collins of Chattanooga; by niece Karey Golden Fowler and her son Christopher Fowler of Tallahassee, Fla.; by nephew Randy Golden (LaDonna) of Montgomery and his daughter and son Rachael Golden Quimby (Michael) of Pike Road, Ala., and Randall Golden of Montgomery; and by many other loving relatives and friends. There will be a remembrance service at 11:30 a.m. Eastern Time on Sunday Sept. 17, 2017, at First Christian Church in Lanett, Ala. (312 S. 1st Ave in downtown Lanett). Donations to the church in lieu of flowers are preferred and can be mailed to First Christian Church at P.O. Box 452, Lanett, AL, 36863.
