Bobby Ridge

Bobby Howard Ridge, 89, of Chattanooga, Tenn., passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at NHC Sequatchie, Dunlap, Tenn. He died from Alzheimer’s Disease. He was a loving husband to Carolyn and dedicated father to their three sons. Bobby was a faithful member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church for 59 years. Bobby made a profession of faith and was baptized at 31 years of age. He loved his church and served in many roles including trustee, deacon and building and grounds chairman. Bobby worked for Mueller Company and retired after 36 years of service. Bobby enjoyed the outdoors; fishing, hunting, camping and gardening. He was a sports fan. His favorite teams to follow were TN football and Braves baseball. Bobby worked as a Merchant Marine in 1947-49 and served his country in the U.S. Army in 1952-54. Bobby was the son of the late John Hugh and Edna Bell Griffith Ridge. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gene Ridge and Jerry Ridge. Bobby is survived by his wife of 67 years, Carolyn Lusk Ridge; by his son, Denton (Suzanne Keylon) Ridge; granddaughter, Grace (Thomas) Becktold; great-granddaughter, Suzanna Becktold; son, David (Denise Saunders) Ridge; grandsons, Brian and Andrew Ridge; son, Robby (Amy Richards) Ridge; grandson, Thomas Ridge; granddaughter, Lauren Ridge. He is also survived by his sister, Nancy Rigsby and brothers, Ray, Hoyt, Lamar and Roger. Funeral services will be held at Hamilton Funeral Home on Monday, Aug. 6, at 11 a.m. EST. Interment will follow at The National Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends Sunday, Aug. 5, from 1 to 5 p.m. EST. Memorial Contributions can be made to the building fund and Mountain Creek Baptist Church, 1001 Mountain Creek Road, Chattanooga, TN 37415. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of NHC in Sequatchie for the excellent love and care given to Bobby.
