Evelyn Fairris

Evelyn LaRuth “Ruth” Fairris, 93, of Chattanooga went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Dec. 01, 2018. She was a native of Alabama and had lived most of her life in Chattanooga. During World War II, Ruth was proud to have worked at Marietta Bell Aircraft Plant where she helped make B-29 Bombers. She retired in the early 1970’s from DuPont with 20 years of service. Ruth was the longest standing member of the Redemption To The Nations Church, formerly Forth Avenue Church of God, where she served as the Choir Director for 25 years, was the leader of the Women’s Ministry, and was a Sunday School Teacher for many years. Her passions in life were God, Church, family, cooking, baking, and she was a “Moma” to many. She will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Michael Fairris, Sr.; four brothers and sisters, Ordie (Viva) Fuller, Mildred (Roy) Battles, Ann (Andy) Kaylor, and Fred (Francis) Fuller; and great granddaughter, Ashley Iolani Brown. Survivors include her children, Milton Michael Fairris, Jr. and Jeanna (Richard) Mullins; grandchildren, Earline (Chris) Green, Milton Michael Fairris, III, Mark Fairris, Jennifer (Curtis) Jackson, Jonathon Mullins, and Jeffery (Kelli) Mullins; several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; niece, Linda (Jim) Hill; nephew, Archie Gilreath; and several other nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregivers, Leann Conner, Maria Moore, and Kevin Godfrey for the care and love they provided to Granny. Condolences may be sent to www.lane-southcrestchapel.com. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 12 noon in the South Crest Chapel with Pastor Kevin Wallace officiating. Interment will be held in the Straight Creek Church of God Cemetery 4792 Main St. Fyffe, Ala. 35971. The family will receive friends Monday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, located at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
