Billie Sue Cox

DUNLAP — Billie Sue Cox, 89, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. Billie Sue was born April 20, 1929, to the late William Bryan Cordell and Madge Cain Cordell. She was a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. She retired from Chattanooga School System, with prior employment at Spartan Industries, TNT Plant, and Dupont. Quilting was her passion, as was her love of family. She created not only unique quilting, but threads of love that will bind the four generations that she leaves behind. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Cox; sisters, Joyce Cordell and Sammie Lou Flanagan; brother, Mark Cordell. She is survived by her daughters, Judy (Billy) Davenport, and Peggy (Jake) Swanger, both of Dunlap; son, Dr. Clinton (Janice) Cox, Montgomery, Ala.; five grandchildren, David (Kristi) Davenport, Daniel (Stacey) Davenport, Dedra (Johnny) Rogers, Renea (Timmy) Bradford, and Creed (Charity) Swanger, all of Dunlap; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Regenia Mahoney, Dunlap; brothers, Lebron (Aliene) Cordell and Johnny (Sharon) Cordell, both of Dunlap; sister-in-law, Ina Ruth Quarles, of Chattanooga. Graveside services will be held Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018, at 1 p.m. CST at Chapel Hill Cemetery with Bro. Brian Kearns officiating. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Chapel Hill Building Program or The Gideons International, c/o The Sequatchie Valley Camp, PO Box 1405, Dunlap, TN 37327-1405.
