DeWayne Stephens

RINGGOLD — DeWayne Eual Stephens, 82, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018. A lifelong resident of Ringgold, he was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, where he served 52 years as a Deacon and served as Treasurer. He was a member of the Mt. Pisgah Men’s Quartet, served in the Catoosa Baptist Association, and on the Executive Committee of the Georgia Baptist Convention. He retired from Combustion Engineering after 32 years of employment. Mr. Stephens was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Birda Stephens; first wife, Claudette Smith Stephens. He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Stephens, of Ringgold; daughters, Beverly (Tom) Allen, Whispering Pines, N.C., Connie (Randy) Johnson, of Lula, Ga.; brothers, LeBron Stephens, of Smyrna, Ga., Ottis (Sue) Stephens, Wendell (Nancy) Stephens, all of Louisville, Ga.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018, at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Henson officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Pisgah Senior Adult Ministry or the Alzheimer’s Association for dementia research. Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Home Wallis-Stewart Chapel Ringgold, Ga.
